Fill your life with adventures…
Have you always wanted to travel, but end up changing your mind cos of the expenses? In this post, I will be sharing with you 5 tips to reduce your travel expenses.
Tip 1: Don’t Travel Alone
One of the secret to spending a bit less than you would normally do is travel with a group/set of friends. The truth is, you spend more when you travel alone. What travelling with your set of friends does is that you all get to share the bill.
For example; instead of the $100 you would have spent on accommodation whilst travelling alone, you will end up spending $50 or less for that same accommodation because you sharing it with someone.
The best part however is, you will always have someone to take your pictures… lol
Tip 2: Get an AirBnB
Wondering what that is? It simple means, AirBed & Breakfast. it’s an online marketplace and homestay network enabling people to list or rent short-term lodging in residential properties. Get acquitted here.
In other words, It’s a cheaper alternative to hotels and the best part is, you can cook your own meals.
Tips: Read reviews before booking an apartment, pictures can be misleading sometimes.
Tip 3: Be “Appy”
Have you ever tried to buy a travel guide or map and you wonder why so expensive? Or you wished before paying that much at that restaurant you found a better or cheaper alternatives? Your smartphone might just be all the money-saving travel buddy you need if you have all the right travel Apps that will help you save money on things you would have spent tons of money on.
For example; with Forevermap, you can download the map of cities or countries you’re headed to and then navigate offline in places where wifi or cellular data is scarce or expensive. Tripadvisor does it for me all the time, with tripadvisor you can be rest assured that you won’t pay more than you need to on travel.

Tip 4: Commute Like A Local.
Not only is sightseeing part of the joy of travelling but you’re likely to get to see a lot of places as well as save money, when you commute like a local. Using public transport is the best way to get a taste of the local culture.
Tips: To see a city in one go, take the sightseeing tour bus. (preferably the hop on and off options).
Tip 5: If you can, Avoid shopping In Tourist Locations…
Flee from any form of buying in tourist spots, once again I say Flee… lol. It took a while before I realised this. If you can avoid shopping in tourist locations please by all means do. Not only are things expensive to begin with, but some locals just believe tourists are a walking wallet.
Tips: If you must buy or shop at a tourist location, try comparing prices between two or more vendors before final purchase.
