Lands and Gold…

Lands and Gold…

This song has been playing in my mind since yesterday, and as I was meditating this morning, I found myself humming it, and so I picked my laptop and googled the whole lyric as I was only familiar with the first verse and chorus…

Verse 1

When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed, when you are discouraged, thinking all is lost, Count your many blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

Count your blessings, name them one by one, count your blessings, see what God has done! Count your blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

Verse 2

Are you ever burdened with a load of care? Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear? Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly, and you will keep singing as the days go by.

Verse 3

When you look at others with their lands and gold, think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold; Count your many blessings—*money cannot buy [*wealth can never buy] Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.

Verse 4

So, amid the conflict whether great or small, do not be discouraged, God is over all; Count your many blessings, angels will attend, Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

After going through the lyrics of the song, Verses 3 stood out the most; as it carried a timely message for such a time like this. We measure our success based on our Lands and Gold, which is only natural, we live in a consumerist world where people tend to judge others on their possession rather than who they are, trust me, social media is not helping either, it makes you feel sometimes among your circle of family and friends you are the only one failing in comparison. What this does is that, it helps us to magnify the things we don’t have and undermine every other thing that we have, where we are, and what is working for us! most especially the things God has blessed us with that money cannot buy like Family, Friendships, Health, Life and so much more…

The truth is our Life is not defined by what we have, even when we have a lot”- Luke 12:15. I hope this helps and ministers to someone has it as to me this morning. Stay Blessed

Till my next Post, Stay Grateful!
